63rd Annual Meeting
September 17-19, 2023 | Greenville, South Carolina
Our Chair, South Carolina’s Governor Henry McMaster, hosted the 3-day event from September 17-19 in Greenville, South Carolina.
The theme that led our agenda for the meeting was got power? Fueling Future Growth and Prosperity in the South. Throughout the event, speakers focused on economic development topics at the confluence of energy production, electricity generation, innovative technologies, grid resiliency, and cybersecurity, as well as the influx of federal funding for state energy and environmental programs, state and federal legislative action, regulatory and permitting reform, and much more!
The event was held in the picturesque city of Greenville situated in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains along the Reedy River. This charming Southern town was named one of America’s hottest destinations—landing at #14 on The New York Times list of “52 Places to Go in 2023” among global destinations.
Joint 2023 Energy Briefing to Southern Legislative Leaders and Committee on Carbon Management Meeting

The Southern States Energy Board’s 2023 Energy Briefing to Southern Legislative Leaders led a dynamic forum addressing many issues related to energy and environmental legislation, policies, administrative and regulatory initiatives, and the impacts on economic development.
This year’s event was a joint meeting with the Board’s Committee on Carbon Management, which focuses on efforts by our partners within industry and the U.S. Department of Energy to accelerate the commercial deployment of CCUS technologies.
