Project Coordinator

The Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) is seeking a Project Coordinator to assist with the management of a variety of energy and environmental projects. The Project Coordinator will work closely with SSEB staff, members, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of energy-related projects from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting;
  • Maintain project schedules, timelines, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion;
  • Maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and other project-related materials;
  • Communicate project progress and status to SSEB management and stakeholders on a regular basis;
  • Identify project risks and work with SSEB staff to develop contingency plans to mitigate potential issues;
  • Ensure project compliance with SSEB policies, procedures, and regulations; and
  • Work with SSEB management to ensure projects are within scope and budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, energy management, or a related field;
  • 2-5 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in the energy sector;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft 365); and
  • Knowledge of energy-related policies and regulations is a plus.

Travel

  • Some domestic travel is anticipated (approx. 10%).

Project Engineer – Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage

The Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing complex energy and environmental projects aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions, improving grid resiliency, and improving quality of life in the South. In addition to supporting SSEB’s growing Carbon Management Program, the Project Engineer is expected to have a variety of other opportunities for professional growth. Additional responsibilities are listed below:

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that energy-related projects are completed on time, within budget, and of the highest quality;
  • Create project plans, schedules, and performance metrics to ensure successful project execution;
  • Gather data and information necessary for project development from stakeholders including government agencies, industry partners (e.g., utilities, oil and gas), and community organizations;
  • Assess the feasibility of a project and recommend improvements based on site visits and assessments;
  • Manage projects effectively by developing schedules and resource plans;
  • Communicate project status, issues, and risks to stakeholders;
  • Work with internal and external teams; and
  • Stay up to date on new and emerging technologies and regulations in the energy industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, or related field—Master’s degree preferred;
  • 3+ years of experience in energy project management, engineering, or related field;
  • Strong project management skills, including experience in project planning and execution;
  • Strong technical knowledge of energy systems, renewable energy technologies, and energy efficiency measures. Understanding of carbon capture, utilization, and storage preferred;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience in presenting complex technical information to a non-technical audience;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously; and
  • Experience working in the Southern States and knowledge of energy regulations and initiatives in the region preferred.
