The Joint Meeting of the Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee and the Transuranic Waste Transportation Working Group was held December 16th and 17th, 2021, in Nashville, Tennessee.
The purpose of the gathering was to collaborate with U.S. Department of Energy agencies and associated federal organizations involved in the transportation of radioactive materials, foster improved communications, and discuss transportation policies between the various institutions and the states.
At the year-end event, the Committees received program and regulatory policy updates impacting the transportation field.

Webinar: Carbon Capture in the Southeast | SECARB-USA

On August 25th, we sat down and discussed the ongoing work of our carbon capture regional initiative, SECARB-USA. SSEB has been actively involved in the study and promotion of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) for nearly two decades.
We were joined by project partners Richard Esposito of Southern Company, Dr. Susan Hovorka from the Bureau of Economic Geology at UT Austin, and Katherine Zimmerman of Wood to discuss our past and future work together on CCUS issues and priorities, including the current push for the inclusion of carbon capture technology in federal decarbonization efforts.
